The Global Environment Facility (GEF), was established in 1991
as a partnership for international cooperation through which countries
work together to address global environmental issues
GEF-financed projects are implemented by various partners such as the UNDP,
UNEP and the World Bank. The GEF is also the financing mechanism for various
United Nations international agreements or conventions.
